A brief account on Hypertension, which we also call it as Hypertension is as follows.
BLOOD PRESSURE:
If our blood pressure readings are 140 and 90 or higher regularly or frequently, for over a number of weeks, then we may have Blood Pressure. Even, if just one of the numbers is higher than it should be for a number of weeks,in such cases also it can be considered as having Blood Pressure.
In high blood pressure cases, the higher pressure exerts more strain on heart and blood vessels and this extra strain increases the risk of a heart attack or stroke over a period of time.
High blood pressure can also cause heart and kidney disease and it is also linked to some forms of dementia.
SYMPTOMS:
Generally High blood pressure doesn't show any symptoms, but in some cases they experience headaches,exertion, tiresomeness etc., but it can be observed through the B.P.Test. Though a high reading on one occasion may not confirm that we have high blood pressure. As so many factors may tend to affect our blood pressure in the day, the doctor may take a number of blood pressure readings to observe that it is high over a period of time.CAUSES FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE;
In several cases, just not due to one reason their blood pressure may be high. Though it may not be known exactly what is leading to high blood pressure, but our lifestyle can affect the risk of developing it. We are at a higher risk if :1.our intake of salt is high
2.not eating sufficient quantities of fruits and vegetables
3.not enough active and overweight
4.or consuming too much alcohol.
We can act to lower our blood pressure and the risk of stroke and heart attack, by effecting suitable changes in our lifestyle.
Additional causes of high blood pressure :
There may be some other factors that lead to increase the risk of developing high blood pressure, which we may not be able to control. These include:Age: As we are getting older, the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle may lead to increase in our blood pressure.
Family history: If other members of our family have high blood pressure, we may also have the chances of getting high blood pressure.
Even in some case, high blood pressure may have a link to other medical conditions, such as renal problems and treating that medical problem may lower their blood pressure back to normalcy.
TREATMENT:
Usually the four main types of medicine that doctors prescribe to treat high blood pressure are:1. ACE inhibitors: These medicines are prescribed to control hormones that affect blood pressure. Most of these medicines have names that end in “pril”
2. Angiotensin receptor blockers (or ARBs): They also control hormones that affect blood pressure. Most of these medicines have names that end in “artan”
3. Calcium channel blockers: These medicines helps in making the artery walls wider, which lowers blood pressure. Most of these medicines have names that in “pine”
4. Thiazide diuretics: These medicines are for removing unwanted fluid from the body, to help in lowering blood pressure. Most of these medicines have names that end in “ide”.
If the causes for Blood Pressure are due to some special reasons or interlinked with some other complications, the specialists will prescribe suitable medicines taking all factors into consideration.
